As much as we want SeedLeaf to be an important tool for the success of your microgreens business, we want you to spend as little time with it as possible. You have other things to do and the goal of SeedLeaf is to free up your time so you can do them.

The key to freeing up your time is using the Tasks feature on SeedLeaf effectively. By Using SeedLeaf on a day-to-day basis, managing tasks can become easy and routine.

The SeedLeaf Task Generator is one of the most powerful features of SeedLeaf in that it does all your crop production calculations for you, ensuring you have the crops you need to fulfill your product orders.

As a reminder, SeedLeaf generates the following tasks:

  1. Soaking Seeds (includes sanitizing seeds)

  2. Sowing Seeds (and the subsequent covering of seeds for germination)

  3. Uncovering germinating trays

  4. Harvest Crops

  5. Packaging Products

The above tasks can be sorted into three distinct groups:

  1. Soaking and Sowing

  2. Uncovering

  3. Harvesting and Packaging

Group 1, Soaking and Sowing is the most important group because it marks the start of your Crop cycles. Once Crops are sowed they cannot be changed - that is why Group 1 is so important.

Group 2, Uncovering, is the simplest group. So simple, in fact, we considered leaving it off the Task list. But there it is, nonetheless!

Group 3 is essentially your Harvest Day. Ideally, your Harvest day will be a set day each week. This, in fact, makes Harvests fairly simple as well.

So the key to using your Task list effectively is to focus on Group 1 - Soaking and Sowing.

These are the steps to using your Task list for soaking and sowing efficiently:

STEP 1: Check your Task list every day. If you don't see any Tasks listed, then head to the beach or the slopes - depending on the season.

  • If you have been growing for a while, you probably already know which Tasks will be performed on which days. This will remain very consistent as long as you are not regularly introducing new Crops or changing Crop cycles.

If you have a soaking or sowing Task listed, then:

STEP 2: Identify all the Harvest dates you are soaking and sowing for

  • SeedLeaf includes the Harvest date you are soaking or sowing for in its Task list. You can click on this date to review Orders for any Harvest dates listed and make any changes before starting your soaking or sowing Tasks.

STEP 3: Review each of the orders for your harvest dates and confirm three things:

  1. All your existing Orders are entered correctly

  2. Any changes to Orders have been made (deletions, quantity changes, product changes)

  3. All new Orders have been entered

  4. Add or adjust any Virtual Customers

STEP 4: Change Orders as needed and save

STEP 5: Go back to your Tasks list and start soaking and sowing!

  • If you have confirmed all your Orders are correct you can now proceed with soaking and sowing with your updated numbers.

You don't need to do anything to confirm your soaking and sowing tasks are done. By default, SeedLeaf assumes all Tasks get completed and proceeds with generating the subsequent tasks in each Crop cycle.

That's it!
